In my quest to show new and old gear I trowel the web and do have to thank people for their pictures. These are from a great site you should visit Preservation Sound and I acknowledge there photos. Many thanks. Check there site out.
The magnificent and different Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band. They gained great critical acclaim but as is the want of the music business for a great many, didn’t make money. Oh well we still have the music.
Pink Floyds David Gilmore getting his boat studio moved by the looks of this picture
Pink Floyds David Gilmore in his boat studio on the Thames
If you have ever seen the series 3 men in a boat you may have seen this segment. A nice 5 minutes around David Gilmores lovely boat studio on the Thames. Wouldn’t it be nice as the Beach Boys would say.
Built in 1911 for Fred Karno, a famous music hall impresario who managed Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, among others, the 90-foot long boat was designed to accommodate an entire 90-piece orchestra playing on it’s upper deck. (The cost, considered exorbitant at the time, was about 20,000 pounds ($32,000 U.S. dollars).

When I’m searching for my recording studio of the week I always try to show something that has interest either by the equipment in use, the environment or a well know musicians recording set up.
This picture I found on the web and what a set up he has. Unfortunately I don’t have a clue as to who he is so any help there would be appreciated. He certainly has gone beyond the simple home studio.
Anyone for a modular synth system or do you have a spare cable Trent?
Trent Reznor from the industrial rock band “Nine Inch Nails” has some mighty studio gear here. He has also been recording various soundtracks hence this amazing line up I guess.
